Trich Testing
Effective January 1, 2010 a new regulation went into effect in Texas. Any breeding bull changing possession must be tested for Trich. Trich is short for Cattle Trichomoniasis, a disease that can cause early term abortion and temporary infertility in cows. Although cows are primarily affected, bulls are the reservoir for the disease, carrying the protozoa on their penis and prepuce, infecting the cows during breeding.
